I, John Holsclaw, of the County of Bullitt and the State of Kentucky being of sound and disposing mind and knowing the certainty of death but the time thereof not-knowing and wishing to settle my affairs in this world before I go hence, make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament. My children by my first wife I wish to make equal, that in those that have not received it is to have a horse and a bed or its equivalent out of my present estate. Item 1 - William Henry Holsclaw who has been absent for a number of years and is supposed to be dead if he should be alive and call for it in three years after my death it is my will that he should have a feather bed and I do direct he had a horse given him by me. Item 2 - Lewis Sanders Holsclaw has had a horse and bed given him by me. Item 3 - Benjamin Franklin Holsclaw has had neither horse nor bed, it is my will and I so direct - should he call for it; within three years after my death that he receive a horse and feather bed given him by my Executors. Item 4 - Eliza Ann Holsclaw who married James W. Grant - has had a bed and two given her- The above are all the children of my first wife- Item 5 - As my last wife owned one half of the farm on which I now live and which was secured to her by marriage Contract between her and myself and after marriage her brother Larkin Sanders who owned the other half died thereby leaving my second wife the owner of the whole farm and as my title to said farm ceases at my death and veals in the four children of my last wife Mary Ann Sanders Holsclaw I have no device to make. Item 6 - It is my will and desire and I so direct that after the above bequests are complied with that all the rest of my personal property consisting of household and kitchen furniture, stock farming implements and cisey (?) and all other property that may rightfully belong to me be equally divided between the children of my last wife viz. Elizabeth Holsclaw, Larkin Hardin Holsclaw, John Robert Holsclaw and Mary Euphania Holsclaw. Item 7 - It is my will and desire and I do direct that the Court appoint Larkin Hardin Holsclaw and John Robert Holsclaw the executors of this my last will and testament without security. John Holsclaw We the undersigned was present at the request of John Holsclaw and heard him declare and publish the above to be his last will and testament and believe from the best of our judgement that at the time of so doing he was of sound and disposing mind - Signed in the presence of John Holsclaw and in the presence of one another the 15th day of July in the year of our Lord 1876 in the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky.
