I Samuel S. LANSDALE being weak in body, but sound in mind do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me who is a resident of the county of Bullitt and State of Kentucky. Item first. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth the use of all my slaves and personal property and landed interests in Bullitt Hardin and Jefferson Counties and also in the town of West Point to cultivate the same and cut and remove timber at her will and make sale of the same until my son Samuel Waters Lansdale becomes of the age of twenty one years and after which time my Executors are hereby directed to make a proportionate advancement of my estate to my two sons Richard Henry Lansdale and Samuel Waters Lansdale if either should desire it. Item Second. I also direct my Executors to make like advancements to each and every one of my daughters as they are married. Item third. When my youngest son James William Lansdale becomes of age it is my will and desire that my Estate shall be divided between my beloved wife Elizabeth and those of my children who have not received any advancement from my estate each and every child to have an equal proportion of my estate and her dower right not to be impaired. Item fourth. It is my will so long as my beloved wife Elizabeth receives the use of my Estate that she shall sustain and educate all my children Item fifth. It is my will if funds does not come into the hands of my executors belonging to me fast enough to pay the debts that are standing out against me, then out in that case my Executors are hereby authorized to mortgage to Abraham Ditto or any one Else any property belonging to my estate for money to satisfy my Debts. Item sixth. If the Incorporated Steam Mill Company of West Point should desire to build a steam mill on any of my land I authorize my Executors to sell them a suitable situation for a fair price. Item seventh. It is my will that there shall be no sale of my personal affects but that an appraisement be made not by Commissioners and returned to the County Court for record unless my Executors should believe it to be more advantageous to my family to sell as much as they see proper. Item Eighth. In order that the foregoing will may be carried faithfully into effect I appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth Executrix and charleton D. Shain and William Ditto my Executors. If my Executors cannot affect(?) a loan of money upon a mortgage of any of my estate for the purpose of raising money to pay my debts they are hereby authorized to sell any property real or personal belonging to my estate for that purpose. Item tenth. It is my will if my wife Elizabeth should hereafter marry that my estate should undergo a legal division between my children and her at the same time allowing her a fair Dower. Item eleventh. It is my will if any of my slaves should become ungovernable or refractory to my wife or family that my Executors shall have every power to sell them and invest the proceeds in other good ones for the use of my family.
