Date: 12 Apr 2000 ********************************************************************** Bullitt County Will Book B p.349 The noncupative will of James MASDEN deceased - The said James MASDEN in his last sickness called on the undersigned as Witnesses to testify as to the way he wished to dispose of his property both real and personal. He stated that he wished that his two sons Hardin and John MASDON should have the two colts that they claimed and that his eldest daughter Ellen should have a sorrel colt that was then in the flats; this last will was made to the undersigned James BOOTHE alone. The balance of the Property real and personal he wished his wife Elizabeth MASDON to have and keep in her possession during her widowhood and at her death his two youngest sons James and Felix were to have the plantation and land he then lived on: and his sons Hardin and John were to have his other plantation and land - He further wished that should his negroes be disobedient to his wife she should hire them out. KY WIll Book C p. 198 In the name of God Amen I JOHNATHAN MASDEN of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make constitute and declare this to be my last will and testament. First I recommend my soul to God who gave me existence and my body to the dust from whence it came. Second It is my desire that my just debts and funeral expences be paid Third I will and devise to my son WORDEN POPE MASDEN One hundred acres of land adjoining the land of DANIEL STARKS deceased (and the tract I now live on purchased of BEN CHAPEZE called the Hunter Tract) said one hundred acres was patented in my own name and on the East of the Hunter Tract part of said one hundred acre tract is cleared, this one hundred acres is all the Land I will to said Worden, also one negro boy named STUARD about Ten years of age purchased by me of RODES VANMETER, also Four hundred Dollars in cash, also Two Cows, one of which is now at WILLIAM SAMUEL’s and the other now at home, also Two two year olds and Two yearlings, Ten head of sheep of scond rate quality, out of my flock (Five ----- and Five Ewes). Fourthly I will and devise to my son DENNIS MASDEN the Farm on which I now live purchased of Ben CHAPEZE called the Hunter tract also the balance of my slaves being Eight in number namely ISAAC, SALLY, MARIAH, JOHN, HARRIET, JANE, AMY and CASEY (or CASSEY) also the residue of my Estate and Increase of my slaves both real and personal and all my money and debts owing to me and all my household furniture and Kitchen furniture, stock and unto the said Dennis, his heirs and assigns forever. Lastly I constitute and appoint my Son DENNIS MASDEN Executor of this my last will and desire as such one has their share portioned to them that there be no sale of any part of my estate by my Executor.
