KY Will Book C p. 124 In the name of God amen, I WILLIAM NEWKIRK of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky being some what afflicted in body but of sound mind and disposing memory and knowing the certainty of death and the certainty of the time thereof do think proper to make ordain and establish this my last will and testament in word, manner and form following viz: Item 1st I give and bequeath unto my daughter LOUISA HALL NEWKIRK two beds and furniture, bedstead, cord etc. this one bed given to my beloved wife REBECCA by her mother previous to her decease, together with all the furniture thereunto belonging and the other bed and furniture to be the one which my said daughter LOUISA shall make choice of after the bequests which I shall herein and here after make to my three sons ASA, CHARLES and CLIFTON, shall be made and taken out of the beds etc. that I shall depart this life ceased of and one pied muly cow and should my Grey or white mare have a colt next spring it is my will that said colt shall belong to and be the property of said daughter LOUISA H. NEWKIRK and I do confirm unto my said daughter LOUISA the clock given unto her by her grand mother previous to her decease, and one bureau (?) which she purchased with her own money. Item 2nd I do bequeath ordain and confirm unto my son ASA H. NEWKIRK the following items of property that is, one roan horse known by the name of Ned, One black horse known by the name of Baley and one Grey mare known by the name of Patty, which said Grey mare was given to his wife AMERICA by her father: and two beds and furniture steads and cords, both of which are now in his possession and five head of cattle now in his possession, and as many hogs as he now claims, number not precisely known and an equal interest in the flock of sheep (bought at the sale of the estate of CLIFTON HALL Jr. dec'd by my son CHARLES C. NEWKIRK) with my said son CHARLES. Item 3rd. I do bequeath ordain and confirm unto my son CHARLES C. NEWKIRK, the following items of property, that is to say one grey mare known by the name of Kitt and one iron grey colt two years old last spring and two head of cattle now in his possession, and as many hogs as he now claims, number not precisely known, and an equal number interest with my son ASA H. NEWKIRK in the flock of sheep which he the said CHARLES C. NEWKIRK bought at the sale of CLIFTON HALL Jr. dec'd and one bed & furniture, stead and cord. Item 4th I do ordain and bequeath and confirm unto my son CLIFTON H. NEWKIRK one Grey horse known by the name of Selim (?) , three head of cattle now in his possession and as many hogs as he now claims, number not precisely known and an equal interest in the flock of sheep which he the said CHARLES C. NEWKIRK bought at the sale of CLIFTON HALL Jr. dec'd and one bed & furniture, stead and cord. Item 5th I do give and bequeath my beloved wife REBECCA NEWKIRK all the residue and remainder of the property which I may depart this life cease of during her life, and after her decease to be sold to the best bidder and the money arising from said sale to be equally divided between my daughter ELIZABETH GENTRY and the legal heirs of her body and daughter LOUISA (?) H. NEWKIRK and my Son JOHN H. NEWKIRK and AUSTIN HOUGH and my daughter MARY S. HOUGH his wife. Item 6th and lastly I do nominate and appoint my beloved wife REBECCA NEWKIRK Executrix and DAVID HALL and MEREDITH COSBY Executors of this my last will and testament. Item 7th I do now ordain and dictate this to be my last will and testament revoking all former or other wills whatsoever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty. Errata.
