KY Will Book D p. 96 On the motion of SAMUEL B. SMITH, Guardian to his children CAROLINE, now wife of JOHN RISLEY, JOSEPH O. SMITH and MARY M. SMITH and motion of said JOHN RISLEY who wish a division of the slaves of said children descended to them from their Grand father JAMES M. BEARD dec'd ordered that AUSTIN HALL, CHARLES CAROTHERS, EDWARD HESSEY and JULIUS C. BUKY or any three being first sworn be hereby appointed Commissioners to divide said slaves agreeably to law and make a report to court. Commissioners reported there was five of said slaves towit: LOUISA, FRANCES, JOSEPH, CHRISTIAN and ABRAHAM. We made the division in kind and as near equal as the nature of the property would admit after being first sworn. We allotted to CAROLINE & JOHN RISLEY her husband a girl FRANCES at $450. She is to receive $106.66 2/3 from JOSEPH O. SMITH & $16.66 2/3 from MARY M. SMITH which will be in full of her share of said slaves. We allotted JOSEPH O. SMITH a boy JOSEPH and a girl CHRISTIAN at $700 We allotted MARY M. SMITH negro woman LOUISA & boy ABRAHAM at $600. Returned Bullitt Co. KY Court 22 April 1848
