KY Will Book C p. 148 In the name of God Amen I Joseph SIMMONS of Bullitt County and State of Kentucky being somewhat advanced in age but of a Sound and disposing mind and memory calling to mind the uncertainty of life do make ordain and publish this my last will and Testament. First I wish and desire that my body may be decently buried in christian like manner and as to my property both real and personal I dispose of in the following manner towit: I give and bequeath unto my brother Thomas W. SIMMONS my part of the Land we live on should he survive me to be a home and farm for him and my two Sisters Elizabeth CROSS and Susannah SIMMONS during their lives and at his death should my said two Sisters and my sister Teresa BOWEN be then alive It is my will and desire that my three sisters shall have and own the same, during their lives and at their deaths I give and bequeath the same to Joseph S. RIDGWAY, son of my niece Edna RIDGWAY and to him and his heirs forever. After the payment of my funeral expenses and just debts I will and desire that my personal property shall be divided as follows: I give and bequeath to the children of my Brother Levi SIMMONS decd the sum of One dollar and no more. I give and bequeath to the children of my brother Humphrey SIMMONS decd the sum of One dollar and no more. I give and bequeath unto the children of my sister Drusilla RIDGWAY the sum of One dollar and no more. I give and bequeath to the children of my sister Ellender RIDGWAY the sum of One dollar and no more. I give and bequeath to my sister Susannah SIMMONS all my household furniture and at her death the said property is to be equally divided between my nieces Edna RIDGWAY and Elizabeth C. BOWEN. Also my mare and colt to the said Susannah during her life and after her death to the said Edna RIDGWAY and Elizabeth C. BOWEN My farming utensils and stock of Horses, Cattle, sheep and hogs I give and bequeath to my brother Thomas W. SIMMONS for the use of himself and my sisters Elizabeth CROSS and Susannah SIMMONS to be used and disposed of by him if necessary for their natural benefit and advantage and should I die possessed of any money the same after the payment of any funeral expenses and just debts is to be divided between my said Brother Thomas and my sister Elizabeth CROSS, Susannah SIMMONS and Teresa BOWEN. My crop on hand at my death is to be divided in like manner between them said Thomas, Elizabeth, Susannah and Teresa and after their deaths to Eden RIDGWAY and Elizabeth C. BOWEN. It is my will and desire that my negro man Dave shall serve my Brother Thomas and my sisters Elizabeth CROSS and Susannah SIMMONS during their lives and at their deaths to Serve my sister Teresa BOWEN during her life and at her death to be free but if she the said Teresa dies before the said Thomas Elizabeth and Susannah, the said Dave is to be free at their deaths. I give and bequeath to my nephew Greenberry SIMMONS my rifle gun to him and his heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my nephew Joseph S. RIDGWAY my silver Watch to him and his heirs forever.
