I have done my best . There were a couple of words I could not make out and some of the slave's names were pretty impossible to read... Will Book 1 p. 307 In the name of God Amen I William WHITLEDGE of the County of Bullitt, State of Kentucky knowing that it is appointed for all men to die and the uncertainty life and certainty of death and I being of perfect mind and memory Thanks be to god for his mercies bestowing upon me have made constituted and appointed this to be my last will and testament. Last of all I recommend my soul into the hands of the almighty god that made it and my body to this earth to be buried in a deasant christian like manner and as to my worldly goods that It has pleased god to bless me with I give and bequeath in the following manner and _____. First of all I give and bequeath to my son Overall WHITLEDGE two hundred and twenty acres of land, the place Where he now lives on, also one negro man named Henry (or possibly Henny) and a negro woman name L---- (Livie? Lidia?) Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved son Thomas WHITLEDGE the place he now lives on Consisting of one hundred and eighty acres of Land also one negro man named Bob and a negro girl named ____ (Jeni? Seri? Sena?) Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved son John WHITLEDGE the plantation where he now lives consisting of two hundred and four acres of land also two negro men, one named Spencer and the other Jess(e?). Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Nancy WHITLEDGE a negro woman named Prew and all her ____ (Mai--- or Mar---) except her oldest child, Sim. I also give her three hundred dollars in Cash. Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Jane BROWN one hundred and twenty seven acres of land Whereby half of this land that I intended for my son William WHITLEDGE divided by a State line from the poplar Corner marked I.E. from thence to two birches (or bushes) on _____ Fork. (it looked like Plowed Fork), also one negro girl named Charlotte to her and all her heirs of her body. Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jeriah WHITLEDGE one negro woman named Benjamin (?) also one negro woman named Milly during her remaining my Widow, also I give her Chois of two of my Horses which shall be on hand when I die, also our (or one) woman’s saddle and bridle which she now has in possession, also waggon and gir (gear) that belongs to me, two plows, two axes, two Broad axes, also one hundred Barrells of Corn and fifteen hundred Weight of Pork, also my loom and girs belonging to two lining (or linen) wheels and pair of cards. Also two cows and calfs, all the geese that shall be on the place when I die and hogs to this amount per pound and she is to take all the bedding, pots and pans and all the furniture that she brought with her when I married her which was the estate of Richard BAUGHN, also the plantation and twenty seven acres, the one half of this land that I kept for William WHITLEDGE, during her remaining my Widow and that appurtenances thereto. Item: I also give and bequeath to my beloved daughter _____ (Moriah?) Ann WHITLEDGE the tract of land above given to my wife during her widowhood if she should marry then the land should go to Ann. I also give her one negro Boy named Antony, one girl named Charlotte, one small boy named Henry, these being all Milly’s children and also I give her the next child that Milly shall bear after the date of my will. Also our cow and our ewe and our lamb. Item: And it is my desire that after the death of my wife that the two Negros that I gave her shall be sold and equally divided among my six children viz: Overall, Thomas, John, said sons and Nancy, Janey and (Mariah?) Ann and also the remainder of my estate that is not mentioned in the above after my death shall be sold and divided among my six children and after my just debt is paid and my body desent buried and all expenses paid. and last of all I do make and appoint my beloved son Overall my whole and sole executor. In testimony whereof I herunto set my hand and fix my seal in the year of our Lord one thousand eigh hundred and fifteen, March 3rd. The Negroes that is mentioned to be sold shall not be sold out of the family. They shall be sold among the children at twelve months credit and the children shall become the purchasers and no other.
