I copied the documents on my recent trip to the Courthouse. The information confirms the family of John C. Wheeler which included three sons who preceded him in death, namely: William A., John and Robert. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John C. Wheeler - Will dated April 12, 1855 In the name of God, Amen. I John C. Wheeler of the County of Bullitt and the State of Kentucky. Knowing the certainty of and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being of sound mind I declare this to be my last Will and Testament, that is to say 1st It is (?) and after my decease, my Executors shall have (?) and pay my just debts. 2nd I bequeath to my four grand children, that is Samuel son of William A. Wheeler deceased by his first wife, Nathan K. Wheeler, Parthenia Wheeler, and Silas W. Wheeler children of my son William A. Wheeler deceased by his second wife the whole entire tract or parcel of land wherein I now reside, one hundred and sixty acres by the (?) more or less (?) all and singular the appurtenances (?). 3rd (not legible on my copy but it bequeathed $500 to daughter Nancy.) 4th My son-in-law John P. Bishop the sum of Ten Dollars to be given to him by my executors as soon as convenient after my death, which shall be his entire share of my whole Estate Real and Personal. 5th It is my will that my Granddaughter (?eaner) Wise (daughter of Irena Wheeler) shall have an equal share or Legacy with all of my legal heirs. 6th It is my will after my decease that all of my estate exclusive of the bequests above made shall be equally divided to share and share alike amongst all of my legal heirs. 7th It is my will and desire after my decease all the Negro slaves that I shall or may (?) this life seized of shall be sold within my family. It is not my will that any person except my children and grandchildren shall be permitted to purchase any of the slaves old or young, great or small. 8th I do now give to grandson Samuel I. Wheeler one sorrel mare and (?) name of Jim together with a new saddle, bridle and ?gale, to be his own property from the present time forward. 9th And lastly I do nominate and appoint my son-in-law Clifton Hall and Buford Scott Executors to this my last Will and Testament, revoking and "an nulling" all former will whatever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and issued my seal this Twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five. John C. Wheeler (signed) The above Will was amended on March 18, 1856, to change the bequeath John C. Wheeler's daughter Nancy McClure, wife of William McClure, to $400. Following the death of John C. Wheeler the Will was filed with the Bullitt Co., KY, Court on April 12, 1856. John C. Wheeler Estate for settlement dated May 6, 1858 Settled account of Clifton Hall & Buford Scott of John C. Final Settlement Recording I Robert F. Samuels commissioner appointed have made the foregoing settlement of John C. Wheeler deceased and report the same to the Judge of Bullitt County Court for approval this 11th day of May, 1859.Signed R. F. Samuels clerk I Robert F. Samuels clerk of the county court for said county certify that on the 16th day of May, 1859, the foregoing settled account of Buford Scott and Clifton Hall Executors of John C. Wheeler deceased was produced in court for record and was continued over one month for exceptions and on the 20th day of June, 1859, the same was again offered for record and no exceptions being had thereto the same was approved of and ordered to be recorded which with this certificate I have truly entered of record in my office.
