Front cover: Richard Gary Deed Elijah Gary This 21st July 1866 *illegible* Inside right: This indenture made the 5 of February 1866 between Richard Gary and Froney Gary his wife of the county of Butler and state of Kyof the first part & Elijah Gary of the second part & the county & the state aforesaid, witnesseth that the said Richard Gary for & in the consideration of the sum of two hundred & fifty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath sold unto said Elijah Gary a serten tract of land lying in butler county on welches creek and bounded as follows to wit Beginning on three white oaks on a ridge running thence N 79 E 48 poles to a double hickory on the side of a ridge thence N 46 E 49 poles to the top of a bald ridge thence N 10 E 26 poles to a dogwood and white oak thence N 80 W 26 poles to a beech thence N __ W 40 poles to two white oaks thence N 51 E 45 poles to a white oak and poplar thence due North 42 poles to two red oaks thence S 45 W 40 Roles to a gum thence N 71 W 38 Roles to a beech thence N 87 W 22 Rolls to a sugartree thence N 80 W 26 Roles to a beech thence due South 160 Roles to the beginning containing one hundred acrs being the same more or less with its inclosures unto the only use and of the said Elijah Gary and his airs forever.
