L. Hillyard's third wife. Also in this Bible with loose papers was this contract or agreement (according to Kathleen Bryant it looks like the first writing in the Bible) July the 20th 1883 An artical of agreement maid and entered into this day between W. L. Hillyard of the first part and Croperd Pinkston of 2 part. Wee Agree to goe halvers in a coal bank that W. L. Hillyard leased from J. M. Boyd. W. L. Hillyard is not to work in sd bank onley when he wants two but the sd Pinkston is to cairion (carry on?) the work and if necessary we agree to hire a hand apice to work in the bank or as many as is keeded and each one bord his hands. signed: W. He was the 2nd Great Grandfather of Mr. James Bryant (husband of Kathleen Bryant). Information found in History - Richardson County, Nebraska, Volume 2, page 944, states that William L. Hillyard was son of Alexander Hillyard a native of Virginia and a early settler of Kentucky. William L. Hillyard was a strong Union sympathizer and did not believe in slavery on any terms. William L.
