Source: CALDWELL COUNTY , KENTUCKY WILL BOOK B B:5 Will Of JOSEPH GUESS, 21 May 1834 To my wife CONSTANCE GUESS , two horses, and household and kitchen furniture and farming utensils, and the use of farm or land during her life I now live on, also cow and two yearlings, stock of hogs and 8 sheep: during the term of her natural life and at her death to be sold and equally divided amongst my children, the land excepted, which I intend to be given to WILLIAM GARNER and BENJAMIN F. HOCKER, provided they stay and take care of their Grandmother during her natural life, and also pay OBEDIENCE GUESS $30. To WILLIAM GARNER , a mare, and BENJAMIN F. HOCKER ,a colt. This land I give to them to be theirs and to be enjoyed by them forever, if they comply with the above request. To my daughter PEGGY , one cow, and to POLLY GUESS, one heifer,and to OBEDIENCE GUESS, my granddaughter, one cow without horns. This property I give to them forever. To JAMES GUESS, my great coat and hat. Remaining property to be sold and my just debts and funeral expences paid, and the remainder of the money to be equally divided amongst my children.
