Taylor, Newport, KY) Dear Madame I did not think to call upon you again, but as we are soon to be exchanged I am very desirous of obtaining some few articles. I know of no one else so likely to afford my assistance as yourself. Send me whatever amount you can conveniently spare. We will all be exchanged as soon as the ice disappears from the river & the transports are able to ply between this and Fortress Monroe. You will ever be kindly remembered by myself & other prisoners. We would indeed be Ungrateful were we to forget kindness such as yours. Please write at your earliest leisure. Very truly your friend, W. T. Robbins Address Capt W.T. Robbins Co. "H" 48th Ala Regt Div 2E" On the reverse, the letter is docketed: "SENT CAPT. W.T.
