Surname: Meade, Walker, Ross, Wilson, Bradshaw Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Carroll Co. PRENTIS MEADE, M. D., a native of Oldham County, Ky., was born September 4, 1832, and is a son of Col. Richard E. and Mary (Walker) Meade, of Jessamine County. Richard E. Meade was a classical scholar, a lawyer and a farmer, and when quite a young man represented Fayette County in the Kentucky Legislature. He died May 4, 1861, aged seventy-four years. Prentis Meade, the next youngest in a family of seven children, was reared on a farm in Oldham County, attended the county schools, and in 1860 began the study of medicine, under Dr. William Ross, then entered the Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery, from which he graduated in 1864. The same year be began practice in Carrollton, Ky., and has ever since been actively employed with his patients. In 1833, however, he was elected to represent Carroll County in the State Legislature, and re-elected to that office of public trust in 1887 by a large majority. He was married, September 9, 1858, to Virginia E. Wilson, who was born near Louisville, and is a daughter of William P. and Malinda (Bradshaw) Wilson, natives, respectively, of Fayette and Oldham Counties.
