Surname: Wright, Ragsdale, Hampton, Coblin Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Carroll Co. DR. SHELBY WRIGHT, a practicing physician, was born in Carroll County, Ky., January 30, 1858, and is the sixth of a family of twelve children born to Lewis and Adelina (Ragsdale) Wright, natives of Carroll County. Shelby Wright was reared on a farm, and received a common-school education, and commenced the study of medicine in 1872 under Drs. Hampton and Coblin. He attended lectures in 1880-81, and graduated in 1882. He settled in Carroll County, where he now has a very large practice. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Politically he is a Democrat.
