Courtney, 78, died Thursday at King's Daughters' Hospital. He was a native of Ghent, Ky.; a retired maintenance department employee of Reliance Electric Co.; owner of the old Courtney Electrical & Plumbing Service; an Army and Air Force veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War; and a member of American Legion Post 9 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969. Survivors: his wife, the former Bernice Gray; sons Gerald, Tony, Dennis, Donnie and Jim Courtney; daughters LaVerne Bailey, Toni Kerman, Anna Jean Garriott, Linda Sue Herrell and Carol Munson; sisters Ann Rogers and Bertha Montgomery; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. EST Monday, Morgan-Webster-Nay, Vevay. Burial: Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday.
