Catherine Boggs age 28 years a resident of Sinking Creek Carter County Kentucky. Who being duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress approved July 14th 1862 That she is the widow of Tyree Boggs who was a private in Company I commanded by Captain Whithercutt in the 22nd regiment of Kentucky Volunteers commanded by Col. David W. Lindsey in the war of 1861. That he said husband died at Camp in Pikeville in the state of KY on the 15th day of March 1862 of disease contracted while in the line of duty in the service of the United States. She further declares that she was married to the said Tyree Boggs in Carter County KY on the seventeenth day of January 1854 by one David Carroll a minister in the Baptist Church. That her name before her marriage was Catherine Lowe and that ever since the death of her husband she has remained a widow. There is no public record of her said husband, no church family or private record to her knowledge that evidence of witnesses present and saw her is the best evidence that she can present of her said marriage. That during the existence of the aforesaid marriage there were born to her and her said husband the following named children who are now under the age of sixteen years. James born the 12th day of April 1854, Charles born the 10th day of November 1855, Hugh born 14th day of January 1861. All of whom are still living and reside in Carter County. She also declares she has in no manner been engaged in or aided, or abetted the bellion in the United States.
