She was 66. Born in Johnson County on August 1, 1890, she was the widow of Harry McDewell. A daughter of Bas and Rebecca Gullett, she was a memger of the Pentecostal Church. Officiating at the services was the Rev. George Elliott. Burial was in the McDewell Cemetery at Leon. The Satterly-Phillips Funeral Home of Grayson was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Hattie Cope, Carter; Mrs. Dollie Bishop, Olive Hill; and Mrs. George Canterberry, Grayson; six sons: Everett, Grover, Raymond, Harry, John, and Roy, all of Leon; thirty-eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Additional Comments: This transcription includes the typos as they appear in the actual newspaper clipping, and there were a few. They repeatedly misspell her last name as McDewell instead of McDowell (although her death certificate also has her last name as McDewell). Other mispelled names are those of Mrs. Hattie Pope and Mrs. Dolly Bishop.
