The paupers were then publicly let out to the lowest bidder when Wm Jackson by his lowest bid of forty seven ($47) dollars each agreed to keep the paupers of said county until next court of claims at the said rate of $47 per annum each for the time he may keep each pauper, and to take all paupers he may be directed to take by the court at same rate and to bury decently any who may die during the year without additional charge, said Jackson entered into bond for the full performance of said contract with Jessee D Merrit and Coleman Durham surety.
