He was riding in his truck on one of the steep curves of Walnut Hill when it left the road. A 60 ft plunge down the hill caused the damage. With Miles was Charlie Wilkinson and Otha Green, both of Nicholasville. Wilkinson was driving and suffered severe injuries. Green had only small bruises. According to Sheriff French Toms, who investigated the accident, the truck was on the way to Liberty when it met a navy recruiting station wagon going toward Somerset. Toms said that judging from the tracks the station wagon had more than its share of the road, but that this did not necessarily indicate that the station wagon was to blame. Neither the station wagon nor the 1948 Dodge truck were hit in passing. Driving the station wagon was Wm. A. Hamilton, and with him were Edward H. Bacill, both of Somerset. Also in the station wagon was D.C.Lewellen of Danville. The dead man, Lillard Miles, is said to be grain dealer at Nicholasville. He was the owner of the truck File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ky/casey/newspapers/gnw13nicholas.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/kyfiles/
