Jake Byrd dies on Wednsday in Sleep
Death came quickly to Jake Byrd 85 at the home of his son John Henry Byrd on 
Wednsday morning of this week at around 6 a.m. Apparently he died of a heart 
condition he had been suffering with for the last few years. He was born on 
April 25, 1871 at Teddy. He made his home in and around that part of the county 
all of his life. He was married to Mary Belle Taylor, who survives and they 
became parents to five children. They are Marion Byrd of Dunville, Mrs. Nancy 
Jane Byrd of Liberty, John Henry Byrd of Gilpin, Alvin Byrd of Indianapolis and 
Mrs. Nanny Tarter of Colunbus Indiana. There are also surviving 30 
grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Mt. 
Olive Christian Church at 1:00 on Thursday afternoon. The Rev. L.C.Young 
officiated. Bartle Funeral Home was in charge of all the arangements.
