Born Aug., 14, 1910, in Yosemite, he was the son of the late James M. and Ida M. Wilson Durham. He was retired from the state highway department and had worked for the Lincoln County Road Department. He also was a former game warden's assistant and Stanford police officer. He was instrumental in organizing the Lincoln County Fire Department and was a firefighter. He attended the Nazarene Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was the widower of Mildred L. Shaffer Durham. Survivors include a son, Charles Durham of Highland; three daughters, Ruth May and Mildred Gray, both of Stanford, and Virginia Roberts of Campbellsville; a half sister, Gertrude Brent of Stanford; 20 grand- children; 41 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Jimmy, John E. and Ben Durham; and a daughter, Billy Jean Durham. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Terry Cornish. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford. Pallbearers will be Bobby, Michael and Charles Durham, Charles and Brad Gray, Tim Poynter, Scott Harper and Rex Neal. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.
