His birthdate was not exactly known, but he claimed to be 106 years old. There were no records to dispute this. He was the son of John and Fannie Pitman. He is survived by six children, all of which live in the county. The sons are Bill, Arch and Lee. The daughters are Mrs. Silva Godbey, Mrs. Lilly Austin and Mrs. Nora Foley. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Poplar Hill Church. The Rev. Ray Robinson officiated. Miller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: This is my great grandfather. He is buried in Poplar Hill Cemetery with my great grandmother Mary Isabelle "Belle" Turpin. My grandparents are also buried there, John William "Willie" and Nancy "Nannie" Snow. On his stone it has birthdate of 1862,so the mystery remains, 91 or 106 years?
