Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. He died Tuesday at Central Baptist Hospital. Born Sept. 1, 1925, in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Samuel C. and Polly Schoolcraft Roy. He was a state highway department engineer, retired after 37 years. He was a Marine veteran of World War II, a member and deacon of First Baptist Church and minister of music for 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Frances Durrett Roy; a daughter, Teresa L. Bourne of Lancaster; a son, Dennis Roy of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Anna Porter Richardson of Liberty. Pallbearers will be Kevin Richardson, Merle Hogue, Keith Bourne, Tony York, David Adams and Garland Sharp. Honorary pallbearers are Billy and Eugene Weddle, George Reed, J.O. Wilkinson, Janet Worley, Curtis Wilson and Garland Rigney. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today and 8-9 a.m. Friday at Bartle Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
