Born Aug. 26, 1930 in Liberty, he was the son of the late James Herbert and Lizzie Jeter Smiley. He was a farmer and was retired from Whirlpool Corporation. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge, Hustonville. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Semonis Smiley of Danville; two brothers, John Smiley of Somerset and Jones Smiley of Lexington. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Benningfield. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home. Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice or Centenary United Methodist Church.
