I Pierce Pennel of Casey County Kentucky, being in perfect mind and memory thanks be to almighty God, for the ...... and considering the uncertainty of this life and the certainty of death when it shall please god to call me. I do make and institute and appoint this my last will and testament in the manner....... ......(2 sentences not readable)......and my body to be buried in a decent manner as my ...... named may think proper. It is my desire that all my just debts be paid. Firstly I give and bequeath to my daughter Patsey Pig (sic) five dollars. ....... I give and bequeath to six of my daughters....... Betsy, Nancy, Roseana, Sally, Fanny and Milly all my household furniture to be equally divided amongst them. ...... I give and bequeath to my ten children ...... John, Pearce, Barnabas, Betsy, Nancy, Roseana, Sally, Fanny, Milly and Polly ....... the ....... of all my estate not mentioned above, both real and personal to be equally divided amongst my last mentioned ten children. I do hereby constitute and appoint John Taggertt (sic, not legible), Phillip Weatherford and John Morriss to be my executors this my last will and testament. I do revoke all wills prior to this date by me made........ this alone to be my last will and testament, signed and delivered with ........ 27 June 1825 his Pearce X Pennel mark On page 139 of the same will book is an "Appraisement Bill" for the property of Pearce Pennel, deceased. It is a lengthy document but too faint to read on the film at the Dallas Public Library. The Appraisement Bill was proven in court on 14 April 1828, indicating that Pearce Butler Pennel died shortly before that time.
