Whereas by an act of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky 
Entitled “An Act the better and more effectally (sic) to protect the rights of 
reversionary legatees” approved February 8, 1839  It is made the duty of all 
persons within the Commonwealth of Kentucky holding a life estate in a Slave 
or Slaves to make out & file for ward (?) in the Clerk Office of the County 
Court where he resides under oath the names of the Slaves and their respective 
ages so held by him or them therefore in Obedience to that law we Benjamin H. 
Reeves and Virginia T. Reeves his wife do certify under our oaths that the 
following list of Slaves whose names & ages are as stated so far as we know 
their ages is Just & true.

A reversionary interest in said Slaves is holden by the heirs of George Cross, 
Decd.

             Todd County Sct  §	This day B. H. Reeves and Virginia T. Reeves 
his wife personally appeared before the undersigned an acting Justice of the 
Peace Within and for the County aforesaid & made oath that the foregoing list 
of Slaves so far as their names & ages is concerned is Just & true to the best 
of their Knowledge & belief.  Given from under my hand & Seal this 12th day of 
February 1844
