The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************************************** Commonwealth of Kentucky ) County of Christian to wit ) Whereas James Adams and Betsy his wife both deceased and late of Christian County aforesaid were entitled to two certain lots of land in the County of Cumberland Virginia which came to the said Betsy by inheritance from her father DRURY HATCHER of Cumberland aforesaid deceased and whereas the said James and wife died seized and possessed of the said land and left the following heris to Wit, Fanny intermarried with pleasant Wilcox Benjamin Adams who hath intermarried with Martha Casey Polly who hath intermarried with Welcome A Parson James Adams Betsy who hath intermarried with John C. Withers John Adams who hath intermarried with Elizabeth Casey all of the said County of Christian and William Adams of the State of Alabama and Whereas said heirs or such of them as shall execute this instrument having full confidence in their worthy friend Hez Ford of Cumberland County aforesaid do hereby nominate authorize and appoint him as their agent and attorney in fact for them or such of them as may [page 429] as may execute this power and for their use to grant bargain sell alien and convey the land above named for the bet price he can procure not less however than the sum of two hundred dollars and to make seal and execute any deed contract bond or conveyance or instrument that may be necessary to pass the title of such of the heirs aforesaid as my sign this instrument and also to sign any receipt or acquittance for the consideration money aforesaid, he is also authorized to institute or defend any suit or action the case may require and One or more attorney or attorneys under him to appoint and at his pleasure to revoke and our said attorney is authorized as our general agent and attorney in fact to receive and receipt for all money or property due or belonging to use as heirs of the said James Adams decd and to settle arrange manage compromise and adjust one interest & claim to said land and the consideration therefore hereby investing him with full power to do for us and each of use who may execute this power of attorney all such acts deeds matters and things in relation to the premises as we or either of us could do were we present to do the same in person. And we hereby recognize the heirship of each other as above stated & do hereby declare this instrument of writing to be joint and several as to its effect and appointment. Hereby rectifying whatever our said attorney may lawfully do in the premises.
