Burial will follow in Cave Spring Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at Gamble Funeral Home, with family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. He died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at his home. A native of Hopkinsville, he was born July 14, 1918. He was the son of the late Elzie Levi Buckner Sr. and the late Ella Green Buckner and was a farmer and a member and deacon of New Zion Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran. His wife, Gladys Hollowell Buckner, preceded him in death. Survivors include six sons, Lester Buckner, Hopkinsville, Phillip Buckner, Ashland City, Tenn., Michael Buckner, Pleasant View, Tenn., Donald Buckner and Jackie Buckner, both of Bakersfield, Calif., and Kenneth Buckner, Hopkinsville; seven daughters, Susie Buckner, Hopkinsville, Barbara Hurt, Lexington, Juanita Williams and Lillian Buckner, both of Hopkinsville, Vinda Radford, Fayetteville, N.C., Sharon Buckner, Hopkinsville, and Karen Buckner, Nashville, Tenn.; and 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
