HOLMAN'S DEATH. The Supposed Fractures Were Only Bruises From A Fall. The following letter relatie to Mr. E. B. Holman's death at the Hopkinsville asylum, a few weeks since, explains itself, and should effectually set at rest all rumors and suspicions of his having been the victim of foul play. We take pleasure in producing the letter, both in justice to the asylum authorities and for the satisfaction of the dead man's family and friends. "Dr. W. A. Blakeman, Glasgow Junction, Ky.: My Dear Doctor: My attention has just been called to an article in the GLASGOW TIMES of this week in which Mr. Holman's death was charged to foul means -- at least everything pointed in that direction. Dr. E. A. Smith, a thoroughly competent and conscientious physician, was in charge of his ward. There was no ground for any suspicion of foul play in his death. He had an apoleptic seizure, and in this fell and bruised himself. Aside from this a puncture was made in the side of his neck for embalming. He was in the hands of a quiet man and on a quiet ward, and I am sure Dr. Smith would have discovered it and if any existed. At all events, we would be glad to aid in any way in the fullest investigation, not only to exonerate the asylum from any blame, but to satisfy the family as well. No one was more kindly thought of here than Mr. Holman. Will you be kind enough to say that we would be glad to co-operate in an investigation by any one desiring to make it. Yours truly, /s/ Ben Letcher, sup.'t." Additional Comments: NOTE: I have no connection, no further information and am not seeking additional information.
