Microfilm: M-235 Clark Co., KY County Court Deeds, Vol. 19:132-133 Indenture of Jacob Copher, April 16, 1823 This indenture made this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty three between Jacob Copher Senior of the county of Clarke and commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and Polly Copher daughter of the said Jacob Copher Senior of the said county and commonwealth of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Jacob Copher Senior in consideration of the sum of one Dollar lawful money to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged & for the further consideration of the natural lover & affection which the said Jacob Copher Senior has and bears toward his said Daughter Polly Copher and for the long and great attention my said daughter Copher has paid to me to her mother (now Deceased) and to her sister Betsey (a lunatic) have given granted bargained sold and conveyed to my said daughter Polly Copher four negro slaves namely Jenny aged about forty four, Sarah aged 14 years in august 1823, Judy Eleven years old December 1822 and Henry 5 years old June 1823 four feather bed bedsteads & furniture the balance of my household and kitchen furniture and two cows and calf and a heifer and all the future increase of the negroes and stock aforesaid. To have and to hold the said negroes and other property to the said Polly Copher and her heirs and assignees forever to the only proper use and behoof the said Polly Copher and her heirs and assignees forever and the said Jacob Copher Sen. the said negroes and other property unto the said Polly Copher and her heirs and assignees against the claims of all persons whatsoever doth and will warrant and forever defend. In witness whereof the said Jacob Copher Sen. hath herewith set his hand and affixed his seal this day and year first above written. In presence of Benjim. J.
