M. E. ECTON SINKS TO REST One of the Oldest Residents of Clark County Passes Away at her Home in the County Thursday Night. Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ecton aged 87 years died at her home two miles from Winchester on the Ecton pike on Thursday night about ten o’clock due to the infirmities of old age. She was one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Clark County and was borned and reared in this county. Before her marriage she was a Miss Baily of this county. She has numerous relatives in Clark county who mourn her death. Her husband, James Smallwood, one of Clark county’s most influencial citizens died in the year 1907. She is survived by several brothers and sisters none of whom reside in this county, and six children, Mrs. Hood Fox of the county, John W. Ecton of Lexington, Theodore and W. W. Ecton of this city, and Chas. S. and Miss Ella Ecton who reside at home. Funeral services will be held at the grave in the Winchester cemetery on Saturday morning at ten o’clock. The pall bearers will be Rueben Franklin, James Franklin, Henry Ecton, Kirby S. Wills, Archie Baily and Speed Stevenson. Rev. T. C. Ecton will preach the funeral.
