Born March 9, 1928 in Manchester, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Frank & Addie (King) Hicks. On March 7, 1945 she became the wife of Benson C. Houston, and he survives. She was a homemaker, and had also retired from Union Furniture Factory in Batesville where she had worked for several years. She was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church in Metamora, Indiana. Besides Benson, her husband of over 62 years, survivors include a daughter, Rosena Kennedy of Batesville, Indiana and a son, Roger Houston of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; two sisters, Virgie Cowan of Manchester, Kentucky and Eunice Bunner of New Castle, Indiana; two brothers, Alfred Hicks of Florida and Clyde Hicks of Manchester, Kentucky; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Pearl Houston who died in 1997. Pastor Randy Edwards will officiate the funeral services on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, 11:00 A.M., at the Elm Grove Baptist Church in Metamora, Indiana with burial following in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana. Family & Friends may visit from 5 till 8:00 P.M. on Monday, October 1, 2007 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
