Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty dollars current money the receipt here of is hereby acknowledged as have granted bargained and sold to the said Thomas Thurmon one certain tract of land lying on the south side of the Cumberland River on Bear Creek waters of Cumberland River in Cumberland County, towit: Beginning at 24 poles from James and Robertson’s preemption of 200 acres at a white oak and two bushes running thence south 83 east 179 pole to poplar and ash thence south 15 west 203 pole to a bush and dogwood on or near Robert Galloway’s line thence south 7 and 197 poles to two sugar trees and a dogwood thence north 83 west 179 pole to two chestnut oaks thence north 7 east 179 pole to a bush thence south 83 26 poles to a hickory and elm thence north 7east 193 pole to the beginning. Said to contain 400 acres be the same more or less together with every singular profit and advantage of the said land belonging or in any wise pertaining thereto the said Thomas Thurmon his heirs and assigns forever and lastly the said Richard Young as agent for the Woodford Academy shall and will forever warrant the right and title of the aforesaid land agreeable to law made and in case provided.
