PENSIONS: Joseph Jewell 1832 *********************************************************************** The pension information came from Revolutionary Pensioners of Cumberland County, KY, a tape at the KY Historical Society, pg 20 Joseph Jewell F15480 N.Y.. Submitted by Helen on 8 Aug 2000 *********************************************************************** The above named soldier was living in the county of Cumberland, State of Kentucky when he applied for pension on 27 Dec 1832, aged 80. He states that he was born in the Co. of Huntington, state of New Jersey, 10/13/1752. That he enlisted in the County of Orange, State of New York, 1776. He lived in New Jersey until 1772, then moved to New York. In 1784, he went to Augusta Co. Virginia, then to Botetort Co., moving from there to Ky. in 1808. The name of his daughter was Sarah Catherine Lewis. Affidavit follows of fellow soldier, John Hamilton, name of county in which he made affidavit was Adair Co., Kentucky on 1/11/1834 at age of 82. "Knew him in New York"; also Solomon Prewitt, 84 yrs., made aff. on 10-19-1833, Cumberland Co.
