"Dr. Thomas E. Baker, of Amandaville, Cumberland county, Ky., died at 3 o'clock a.m., May 22, 1896. "The subject of this sketch was born on Big Creek, in Adair county, Ky., Nov. 3rd 1828, and was consequently 67 years, 6 months and 19 days old. He studied medicine while a young man and located at Amandaville, in this county, to practice his profession where he shortly afterwards married Sarah K. Rowe, a daughter of the late James L. Rowe, decd., a wealthy and influential citizen of this county, and was a successfull [sic] practitioner for 41 years in the same community. He was for a long time a contributor to the Columbia Spectator under the nom de plume of "Primo", and his letters were always read with much enjoyment. He was a consistent member of the Christian church for a number of years prior to his death, and although he was sick in bed for about five months preceding his death he was [sic] never heard to murmer, but bore his affliction with patience and fortitude and died in the triumphs of the Christian faith.
