Chairman of the Democratic Party in Monroe County for 42 years; former owner of
Tompkinsville Motors, a Chevrolet dealership. Former mayor of Tompkinsville,
farmer, sawmill operator, member Thompkinsville Church of Christ.
Survivors:
Son: Julian and wife Carolyn of Tompkinsville
Three daughters: Jarene McMurtrey of Louisville KY, Sandra Neal and husband
Dennis of Louisville, Hilda Carter of Bowling Green KY
Sister: Ethel Bartley of Tompkinsville
Seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren
Preceded also in death by:
Wife: Thelma L Crowe Dodson
Three brothers: Reuben, Fred and Thomas Bedford "Tom" Dodson
Five sisters: Elizabeth "Lizzie" Petett, Bessise Humes, Annie Goad, Tessie
Bartley and Mima Hayden Geralds
Services: Friday, 27 May 2005, 12 pm, Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville,
burial Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
