Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 15 July 1896
"Prominent Citizen Dead. Mr. James Patterson, a leading citizen and farmer of 
Cumberland, died at his home in that county last Sunday. He was seventy years 
old, and a prominent member of the Methodist church. He was buried in Adair 
county, near Columbia."
