Owensboro Daily Messenger March 15, 1888
"Mr. Phil McNemer, of Sorghotown, received notice yesterday through his 
attorney, Col. J. H. McHenry, of the allowance of his pension for service in 
the Mexican war.  Mr. McNemer was a veteran of that war, and was a member of 
Capt. Decius McCreery's company, raised in this county."
