COLD BREAKFAST AROUSES ONE HUSBAND'S IRE Ed COATES of the county, was before County Judge HOUCHIN Saturday on a charge of assault and battery, referred by Mrs. COATES, who testified that her husband slapped, kicked and otherwise mistreated her. COATES denied kicking his wife, but admitted that he spanked her a little and also kicked over a lamp smashed some dishes and said some "hateful things" when his spouse declined to get his breakfast one morning last week. COATES said he was forced to make his morning meal on cold corn bread and coffee. Mrs. COATES said she refused to get up and cook his meal because her husband refused to cut the stove wood. After "lecturing" both parties, Judge HOUCHIN held COATES to the grand jury in $200 bail, which he executed and was dismissed from custody. EDMONSON COUNTY COURT DIRECTORY Circuit Court - Hon. SKAGGS, No 4, Ed GENTRY; No 5, James SKAGGS; No 6, M. DUVALL. Meets Tuesday after first Monday in April and October. A. T. LAWRENCE is in the Lexington jail awaiting trail on a charge of murder. He is alleged to have been the driver of an automobile which struck and killed William ABBEY, a railroad crossing flagman. It is said that the driver was drunk and failed to heed the flagman's warning to stop and wait for an approaching train to pass the crossing. Patrick Henry FITZPATRICK, one of the pioneer citizens of Bowling Green, died Friday night. He was the proprietor of Patsy's Ice Cream Parlor and was widely known. A malignant growth in his throat caused his death.
