Dear Wayne,

Glad you will able to match up BILLY MARSHALL.  Here's what I have on PORTER.

Grandfather contracted the measles when he was a grown man. He was very weak
and the family had to move from Grayson, KY to Cannonsburg.  I now the year
was 1901 because Grandmother was 7 months pregnant with my father, who was
born in Cannonsburg July 17, 1901:

Page 201:

    "DAN MCDAVID was with us and was great help while we were moving.  ELIZA
[MCDAVID MASON] was about 7 months pregnant and, of course, not her usual
active self and I felt as weak as the proverbial cat.  Mr. ARMSTRONG sent the
PORTER twins to drive and DAN [MCDAVID] went with them so our things got
through ok."

The following was about 1903 or 1904 at Cannonsburg, KY:

Page 220:

    "For several years we gave very little attention to the school at 
Cannonsburg but when ERNEST & ALLEN [MASON] got old enough to attend we took
more interest.  Beginning with CYNTHIA RICE, who was the first teacher I now
remember, we had Prof. TALBERT, a graduate of Emoty & Henry College of
Virginia; LINDSAY FRENCH; CHARLES ROWSE; HENRY C. PORTER and FRANK WHITE -
and maybe one of two others."

And from one of Grandfather's many diaries, he wrote about the year 1912:

Page 236:

    "This year HENRY C. PORTER says he taught the Cannonsburg school and we
were busy trying to make a living."
