Stirl Sparks, 85, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of New Carlisle, OH, born Nov
9, 1913 at Gimlet, died Apr 22, 1999 at Vero Beach.  Resided in OH from
1937 to 1970.  Survived: wife, Sally Sparks, sister, Hazel Phillips, son,
Omer Sparks, 3 gc, and host of family and friends.  Burial: Apr 25, 1999 at
Vero Beach, FL.

Regina Crum Wade, 50, of Morehead, Rowan Co, KY, born July 12, 1948 in
Elliott Co, KY, dau of the late Ottis and Mintha Sloan Crum, died Apr 21,
1999 at Morehead.  Survived: son, Brad Johnson, daus, Tommie Stone, Renee
White and Edna Pennington, brothers, Galen Crum and Bobby Crum, sisters,
Carol Hanshaw, Rita Wilson and Loraine Ceila, 5 gc.  Burial: Apr 21, 1999
in the Trent Cemetery.

Lena Moore Kendall, 66, of Fairborn, OH, born June 27, 1932 in Elliott Co,
KY, dau of the late Scott and Barbara Stephens Moore, died Apr 7, 1999. 
Preceded: husband, John J. Kendall in 1977, dau, Elizabeth Kendall,
brother, Billy Moore.  Survived: daus, Kathy Jenkins and husband, Larry,
Odell Smith and husband, Gary and Barbara Curtis, sons, James Kendall and
Scott Kendall and his wife, Karen, sisters, Lillian Elliott, Gurtha
Wiegands, Jean Harris and Edytha Sloas, brothers, Walker Moore, Franklin
Moore, David Moore, Larry Moore, Wilbur Moore, Denziel Moore and his wife,
Virginia, and Stanley Moore, 11 gc, 6 g-gc, lots of nieces and nephews. 
Burial: no date given, buried in the Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, OH.

Kate Miller Carmichael, 80, of Grayson, Carter Co, KY, born Aug 20, 1918 in
Carter Co, Ky, dau of the late Bill and Kateryn Victoria Craiger Greer,
died Apr 16, 1999 at Ashland, Boyd Co, KY.  Preceded: husband, George
Miller in 1966, dau, Elizabeth “Libby” Prichard in 1998.  Survived: son,
James W. “Bill” Miller, daus, Madge Rogers and Wanda Sullivan, brothers,
Bill Greer and Earl Greer, sister, Pearl Rogers, 8 gc. Burial: Apr 18, 1999
in the Sammons Cemetery.

Florian Enos Carter, 75, of Grayson, Carter Co, KY, born Mar 31, 1924 in
Carter Co, KY, son of the late B. and Inez Cox Carter, died Apr 16, 1999 in
Russell, KY.  Preceded: wife, Kathryn Felty Carter.  Survived: son, John
Carter, dau, Carolyn Stephens, brother, Ward Carter, sisters, Virginia
Harris and Betty Moore, 2 gc, 2 g-gc.  Burial: no date, burial in the
Hillcrest Cemetery.

Harold Eugene “Gene” Wilburn, 73, of Olive Hill, Carter Co, KY, born Nov
20, 1925, son of the late Arnold and Elva Bowling Wilburn, died Apr 16,
1999 at Morehead, Rowan Co, KY.  Preceded: dau, Donna Alicia Wilburn. 
Survived: wife, Betty Abrams Wilburn, sons, Kevin Wilburn and Kirk Wilburn,
dau, Dana Wilburn, brothers, Kenton Wilburn, Homer Wilburn and Terry
Wilburn, sisters, Lorraine Stapleton and Louise Blevins, 4 gc.  Burial: Apr
19, 1999 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Carter Co, KY.

Hillie Berry, 83, of Rush, KY, born Jan 20, 1916 in Carter Co, KY, dau of
the late James and Jane Conley Berry, died Apr 16, 1999 in Flatwoods, KY. 
Survived: several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Burial: Apr 19, 1999 in the
Cribs Hill Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Harris Hender son, 39, of Clearfield, Rowan Co, KY, born Dec
5, 1959 in Mansfield, OH, dau of Jack L. and Minnie Glover Harris, died Apr
16, 1999 in Morehead, Rowan Co, KY.  Survived: husband, Monte Henderson,
sons, Joshua Allen Henderson and Jackson Ray Flickinger, dau, Misty Anne
Glover, step-sons, Jimmy Henderson and Matthew Henderson, step-daus,
Tamaria Byrd and Loura Henderson, sisters, Debra Baker, Anita Edmonds and
Mary Hanson, 1 granddaughter, 8 step-gc.  Burial: Apr 20, 1999 in the
Masters Cemetery.

Harlen Tackett, 73, of Grayson, Carter Co, KY, born Apr 4, 1926 in Logan,
WV, son of the late Thomas and Hattie Baier Tackett, died Apr 17, 1999 in
Ashland, Boyd Co, KY.  Preceded: son, Gary Dean Tackett in 1993.  Survived:
wife, Lucy Parsons Tackett, sons, Harlen Tackett Jr., Jackie Ray Tackett,
Paul David Tackett, Barton Dale Tackett, Danny Gerald Tackett and Daniel
Gilbert Tackett, daus, Shirley Shaffer, Izetta Stone, Joyce Dianne Powers
and Lesa Darlene Trimper, 19 gc, 4 g-gc.  Burial: Apr 19, 1999 in the
Edison Cemetery.

Audrey Oney Meadows, 82, born Sept 4, 1916 in Olive Hill, Carter Co, KY,
died Apr 17, 1999 in Louisville, Jefferson Co, KY.  Preceded: husband,
Hubert Meadows in 1985.  Survived: dau, Anita Meadows, 3 gc, 1 g-gc.

Bertha Conn Conley Ruley, 83, of Olive Hill, Carter Co, KY, born Sept 17,
1915 in Logan, WV, dau of the late Harve and Minda Tomlin Conn, died Apr
18, 1999 in Russell, KY.  Preceded: 2 husbands, Ernest Conley in 1982 and
William Ruley in 1993.  Survived: son, John William Conley, daus, Dora
Gearhart, Mayme Inman, Carol Pyers , Joyce Hawk and Earnesteen Brewster,
brother, Eugene Conn, and Georgia Pelfrey, 19 gc, 36 g-gc, 5 g-g-gc.

Bobby Winston Evans, 55, of Vanceburg, Lewis Co, KY, born Oct 20, 1943 in
Olive Hill, Carter Co, KY, son of the late William Vernon and Nora
Henderson Evans, died Apr 18, 1999 in Vanceburg, KY.  Survived: brothers,
Emerson Evans, Walter Evans, Eugene Evans, Theodore Evans, Frank Evans and
Donnie Evans, sisters, Betty Oakley, Cressie Campbell, Jay Haywood and
Barbara Fannin.  Burial: Apr 21, 1999 in the Morgan Cemetery.

Sophie Sue Roberts, 94, of Louisa, Lawrence Co, KY, born Mar 3, 1905 at
Busseyville, dau of the late George Garfield and Eliza Ann Wellman Roberts,
died Apr 21, 1999 in Louisa.  Survived: several nieces and nephews.  No
funeral services.  Heston Funeral Home of Louisa, KY in charge of
arrangements.

Genevia Hall Humphries, 72, of Morehead, Rowan Co, KY, born Dec 18, 1926 in
Rowan Co, Ky, dau of the late Floyd and Victoria Conley Hall, died Apr 20,
1999 in Lexington, Fayette Co, KY.  Preceded: husband, Charles Humphries in
1997.  Survived: step-mother, Jessie Lee Tackett Hall, son, George
Humphries, brother, William Robert Hall, sisters, Lutie Fields and Clara
Faye Littleton, half-brothers, Lenville Hall, Enois Hall and Nathaniel
Hall, half-sisters, Donna Newsome, Lucy Johnson and Judy Caudill.  Burial:
Apr 23, 1999 in the Hayes Cemetery.

Paul Prather Young, 68, of Grayson, Carter Co, KY, born Apr 1, 1931 in WV,
son of the late Levi Morton and Willia Pennington Young, died Apr 20, 1999
at his home.  Survived: dau, Marion Krajewski, son, Paul Keck, brothers,
Harry Young and Webb Young, sister, Louise Parks.  Burial: Apr 23, 1999 in
the East Carter County Memory Gardens, Grayson, Carter Co, KY.

Burl McCoy, 77, of Olive Hill, Carter Co, KY, born Nov 15, 1921 in Olive
Hill, son of the late Willie and Florence Hollingworth McCoy, died Apr 20,
1999 in Lexington, Fayette Co, KY.  Preceded: wife, Wanda Case McCoy in
March of 1999.  Survived: son, R. Burl McCoy, brothers, Ray D. McCoy and
Bobby E. McCoy, sisters, Lillian Offill, Betty Dixon and Billie Jean
Holland, 3 gc.  Burial: Apr 23, 1999 in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery, Carter
Co, KY.

Melvin Martin Brunson, 66, of Morehead, Rowan Co, KY, born July 21, 1932 in
Bond Co, Ill., son of Myrtle Pollack Brunson and the late Jesse Murl
Brunson, died Apr 22, 1999 in Lexington, Fayette Co, KY.  Survived: wife,
Ruth Reeves Brunson, sons, Martin Walter Brunson and John Jesse Brunson,
dau, Dianne Blake, brother, Merrill Brunson, and 1 grandson.  Burial: Apr
25, 1999 in the Hamilton Cemetery.

Dr. David Harris Calhoun, 93, born in Ninety-Six, son of the late John
Addison and Eula Lee Turner Calhoun, died Apr 18, 1999 at his home. 
Preceded: son, Paul Harris Calhoun.  Survived:  wife, Pauline Bays Calhoun,
sons, Dr. David Bays Calhoun and John H. Calhoun, 3 gc.  Burial:  Apr 20,
1999 in the Sumter Cemetery.
