Bernett Branham, 41, of Sandy Hook, Elliott Co, KY, born Jan 27, 1952 in Elliott Co, 
son of Florence Robbins Branham and the late Orville Branham, died Aug 17, 1993 at his 
home.  Preceded: brother, Donald Branham.  Survived: brothers, Dale Branham, Gary 
Branham, Vencil Branham, Hillard Branham and Stanley Branham, sister, Geneva Hall.  
Burial: Aug 19, 1993 in the Branham Family Cemetery.  Pallbearers: Tim Branham, 
Daniel Branham, Jason Branham, Joe Branham, Mark Branham, Chris Hall, Monte Hall 
and John Hall.

Christina Farley Shackelford, 71, of Phoenix, AZ, born Aug 7, 1922 in Elliott Co, KY, 
dau of the late William and Delphia Brown Farley, died Aug 11, 1993 in Phoenix.  
Preceded: 1st husband, Bud Mullins, brother, Earl Farley.  Survived: 2nd husband, Sam 
Shackelford, son, Bob Mullins, sisters, Mildred Veach, Edna Wilder, Laura Farley, 
Rosina Whitt, Billie Sturgill and Joyce Cuthbertson.  Memorial services: Aug 21, 1993, 
no burial info.

Martha Marie Carroll Elam, 89, of Sandy Hook, Elliott Co, KY, born in Boyd Co, KY, 
dau of the late Fred and Martha Lee Wells Fowler, died Aug 16, 1993 in Morehead, 
Rowan Co, KY.  Preceded:  1st husband, Pete Carroll, 2nd husband, Franklin Elam.  
Survived: sons, Albert Clinton Carroll and Arhtur Carroll, dau, Ruby Flandham, brother, 
John D. Fowler, 9 gc, 19 g-gc.  Burial: Aug 18, 1993 in the Elliott County Memory 
Gardens, Sandy Hook, Elliott Co, KY.

Letty Kathleen Crisp Erwin, 73, of Olive Hill, Carter Co, KY, born May 25, 1920 in 
Carter Co, dau of the late James and Laura Viars Crisp, died “Monday” at her home.  
Preceded: husband, Glen A. Erwin in 1982.  Survived: son, Glen Erwin Jr., daus, Ruby 
Faye Peck, Norma Gertrude Bishop and Deborah Bradley, brothers, James Crisp and 
Johnny Crisp, sisters, Bertha Webb, Louise Stone, Sue Atherton, Christine Frost, Geneve 
Harrell, Mary Stewart, Doris Sampson and Joan Bennett, 10 gc, 7 g-gc.  Burial: 
“Thursday” in the Bowen Chapel Cemetery.

Bessie May Johnson, 96, of Ashland, Boyd Co, KY, born July 22 1897 in Elliott Co, KY, 
dau of the late George Milton and Susan Green Sparks, died Aug 16, 1993 in Dayton, 
OH.  Preceded: husband, James Marion Johnson in 1979.  Survived: dau, Donna Brooks, 
sisters, Locea Sparks, Elaine Rice Price and Ruth Johnson, half-sister, Goldie Nance, 4 
gc, 9 g-gc, 2 g-g-gc.  Burial: Aug 19, 1993 in the Sparks family cemetery, Boyd Co, KY.

Mr. Mack “Nick” Howard, 46, of Morehead, Rowan Co, KY, born Feb 3, 1947 in Carter 
Co, KY, son of Lillian Adkins Howard Cooper and the late Mack Howard, died Aug 11, 
1993 at his home.  Survived: wife, Evelyn Kay Thompson Howard, son, Brandon Cole 
Howard, dau, Jennifer Lane Howard, brothers, Clifford R. Howard and Robert A. 
Cooper, sisters, Freda White, Evlynn Fugate, Jolene Howard and Rita Bowman.  Burial: 
Aug 13, 1993 in Lee Cemetery, Morehead, KY. Pallbearers: Chris Mowman, Wayne 
Sloan, Brian Howard, Wesley White, Ronnie Perry and Alan Miles.
