Mavis Johnson King, 77, born Mar 5, 1916 in Elliott Co, KY, dau of Vosh Waddell Johnson and the 
late Calvin Johnson, died July 29, 1993 in St. George, WV.  Survived: brothers, Calvin Johnson 
and Cecil Johnson, sisters, Nancy Johnson Woods, Imogene Johnson Cross and Rosemary Johnson Noel, 
sister-in-law, Alice King Smith, son, David King, his wife, Shirley, grandson, Michael, and his 
wife, Pamela.  Mavis married Lee King in Greenfield, OH on Oct 28, 1940, he preceded her in death 
on July 10, 1978.  Burial in the Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, OH.  Pallbearers: Mark Cannon, 
David Cooper, Tony Ganger, Greg Gargett, Hollis Lipscomb, Sid McFadden and Doug Wetsch.

Claude Stanley AMato@ Conn, 82, of Olive Hill, Carter Co, KY, born Mar 31, 1911 in Elliott Co, 
KY, son of the late Andrew and Amanda Lemaster Conn, died Thursday, July 29, 1933 at his home.  
Survived: wife, Lola Adkins Conn, sons, Ronnie Conn and James Conn, daus, Olive Tackett, Doris 
Wilburn, Bessie Colley, Gloria Jean Oney and Karen Sue Tackett, brothers, Golden Conn and Dempsey 
Conn, sister, Jewell Nichols, 15 gc, 15 g-gc, 2 g-g-gc.  Burial: ASunday@ in the Bowen Cemetery.

Steven C. Ratliff, 17, born May 1, 1976 in Ashland, Boyd Co, KY, son of Carl and Karen Ann Utley 
Ratliff, died Aug 2, 1993 in Sandy Hook, Elliott Co, KY (automobile accident).  Survived: 
brothers, Jeffery Carl Ratliff and Nicholas Scott Ratliff, grandmothers, Louisa Thornsberry and 
Bertha Utley, great-great grandmother, Pearlie Thornsberry.  Burial: Aug 4, 1993 in the Elliott 
County Memory Gardens, Sandy Hook, KY.  Active pallbearers: Jonathan Fultz, Bill Horton, Eddie 
Wright, Billy Caskey, Danny Ray Bowing, Kevin Campbell, John Horton and Larry Dale Lewis.  
Honorary pallbearers: Jason Fultz, Norman Porter and Micky Adkins.

Doris Jean Kelley, 63, of Lexington, Fayette Co, KY, born Dec 19, 1929 in Lawrence Co, KY, dau of 
the late Virgil and Ibbie Hutchinson Kelley, died Aug 2, 1993 in Nicholasville, KY.  Survived: 
sister, Rowena May.  Burial: Aug 4, 1993 in the Elliott County Memory Gardens.

Also printed in the edition was a notice listing Johnnie Roger Lewis, the father of 5 children, 
and the son of William E. Smith, Mr. Smith being laid to rest on July 29, 1993.
