Bill Young Manning, 88, of Sandy Hook, passed away Tuesday, April 18, at his         home.  Mr. Manning was born March 22, 1912, in Elliott County, a son of  the late 
Calloway Volney "Bump" and Lucy Weddington Manning.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delma Fannin Manning;  one son, Berlin F. Manning; two brothers, Frances Manning and Harve Manning; and five sisters, Janie Schaffer, Sally Manning, Madge Johnston, Nina Barker and Lucy Sims.  He was a Methodist, a retired Pipefitter and member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 521 in Huntington, West Virginia, a Kentucky Colonel, a Duke of Paducah, a former Elliott County Sheriff (1948-1952 and 
1956-1960), and a former Alcohol Beverage Control Employee in the mid 1960's. 
Surviving are one son, William C. Manning of Sandy Hook, one daughter, Catherine Wells of Sandy Hook; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Lewis 
& Ferguson Funeral Home, in Sandy Hook, with Elder Clavis Adkins, Rev. Billy T. Rice and Rev. Eugene Dickerson officiating.  Burial was in the Elliott County Memory Gardens, in Sandy Hook, under the direction of Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were: Bob Sims, Richard Sims, Billy Lee Barker, Don Barker, Jimmy Whitt and Jimmy Clevenger.  Honorary pallbearers: Woodrow "Pete" Thompson, Kendall Howard, Bill Weddington, Gene Porter, Clyde Stephens, Addie Stephens, Frank and Joe 
Conley.
