Lucinda Sturgill Williams Obituary Submitted by Doug Carroll < doug@email.kcc.edu The Following is an exact copy of Lucinda Sturgill's Obituary, her death certificate has her birth as January 8th, 1828 this information was given by her daugher Sarah Williams Kitchen. Her marriage certificate recorded at the court house gives her marriage date as September 19, 1847. Doug Carroll Lucinda Sturgel was born January 8th, 1830. She peacefully fell asleep in Jesus at the home of her daughter, August 29, 1922, between four and five o'clock, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 21 days. She was one of the family of eleven children, nine girls and two boys. She was married to Eli Williams in 1845 in Elliott County, Kentucky. To this union was added ten children, four girls and six boys, of which six have passed on before her, and four are left to mourn her loss; a dear mother and a loving companion; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Kitchen, with whom she made her home since the death of her husband; three sons, Richard Williams of Saltlick, Kentucky; Alex Williams of Winchester, Indiana; and John Williams, of Greensfork. She was a member of the church for a number of years. She has lived a true Christian life, and at different times expressed her willingness to meet her Saviour. She was never too busy to extend a helping hand to those in need. No one was ever turned away empty handed, and the doors of her home were never locked, day or night. Every person in trouble knew where to find a helping hand, and those who entered and left were assured the door was always opened to them when they wished to return. It was not only in material aid that she gave, but she gave valuable advice and wise counsel as well, and taught by precept and example. She lived her religion, and thus the last worldly farewells are said to one of the noblest and best loved women who ever called Rosedale, Kentucky, her home. A woman of the most loving tenderness, of rare sympathy, and charming personality, giving of the rarest beauty of her life to her home and loved ones. She was still able to extend her loving sympathy and winning personality to a large circle of appreciative friends, who will long cherish loving remembrance of the friend who has now passed to her reward. The sympathy of the community is extended to the sorrowing family and is tempered by the knowledge that is rarely blessed in having the memory of such a mother and friend to cherish for the years to come. Our dear mother from us is gone, her loving voice we loved is still; a place in our home is vacant, which never can be filled.
