Taken from The Elliott County News published on Oct. 22 1983 -------------------------------------------------------- Elliott Natives Celebrate Their 75th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Perry L. Foster of Ashland celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary Sept. 18 with their family in their home. They are the parents of Audrey E. Redwine and Majel L. Horton of Canton, Ohio, Virginia Johnson, Madge L. Redwine and LaVerna D. Kriener of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Foster were married Sept. 18, 1908 on Howards Creek, near Sandy Hook, by the Rev. Richard Gillum. Mr. Foster, 95, the son of the late Charlie Walton and Fanny Porter Foster of Elliott County, was operator of a grocery store in Ashland until he retired in his mid-seventies. He served two terms as Elliott County Clerk and was also a saddlemaker. Mrs. Foster, 97, is the the former Della M. Atkins, daughter of the late John Milton and Polly M. Thornberry Atkins. She was a teacher in the Elliott County School system. The couple also have 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
