Petition signed by the following: James Puckett, Elyah Abner, Robert Barnett, George Tirey, Marcillus Patton, Peter Shimfessle, James Strange, Turner Lee, James Wells, John Crutchfield, W.A.L.B. Sharp, A.P. Bush, Simeon Tirey, Anderson Lyle, Elijah Vaughn, John Burton, John Wells, George Mountz, and D.S. Webb. Petition against granting a Tavern License Your petitioners have leard with regret that an application has been made to Your Honor for a license for a tavern on Hardwick Creek in this county. Now we would respectfully beg leave to demonstrate against the granting of such a license. We reside on the waters of said creek and in its vicinity, and feel a deep interest around the place and good order of said neighborhood, and knowing as we do that such an establishment as that asked for is not necessary for the comfort or convenience of anyone. It would be a curse and blight to our neighborhood. We know this from experience, the recollection of which is too painful to recite. We earnestly ask a favorable consideration of our circumstance. Submitted to Your Honor: Mathew McKinny, Jesse W. Jones, George H. Judy, William McHoy, G. Combs, D.R. Mckinney, William T. Swope, G.W. Lyle, William Burton, William Carmichael, Martin A.
