Engineer John Dailey was killed in a train wreck. 01/29/1929 The name of the golf club was changed from Irevenna to Estill County Golf Club. 05/28/1929 Talking movies for Irvine is assured with the first picture to be shown Wednesday afternoon at the Strand. 06/07/1929 Dr. W.D. Funkhouser and Prof. W.S. Webb of UK are in Lee County to open a supposedly ancient cave. They hope to find the existence of a pre-historic race in Kentucky. 11/22/1929 The federal court holds that anyone buying liquor or knowing of its sale must report it or be classed a felon. 12/27/1929 A Breathitt County mob took Chester Fugate from jail and reddled his body with shot.
