This image is assembled from scans of a rather large oil painting that was 
done about the time of their marriage, between 1913 and 1915.  Lester Curtis 
and Harriet Stone Simkins were married in Lexington, KY; Harriet was a native 
of Estill County, KY and Lester was born in Watson County, Michigan.  He was a 
brilliant civil engineer that is, according to family accounts, credited with 
developing the original layout for the city of Hammond.  His previous 
marriage, to Anna Mary Jacobs of Kentucky, ended with her death in childbirth, 
1913.
