Morton Additional Comments: This cemetery was surveyed in 1979 by the city's Historic Preservation Division (FA-463). At that time, ten grave sites were noted. In 1994, the Fayette County genealogical society reported in its fall edition (p. 100) the cemetery was surrounded by a thick concrete wall and was in good shape. Nancy Carrick was born in Scotland. In the 1850 Fayette County federal census, the family included Robert, 55, b. PA; Nancy, 55; John, 26; N[ancy] R. [Hurst], 18 (John's wife), and M.E., a female, age 1. Nancy R. Hurst had married John A. Carrick on 23 March 1848 in Fayette County. She was the daughter of Capt. James Hurst, and was about 16 at the time of the marriage. It is possible the female infant in the household in 1850 was their first child. Robert Carrick was a veteran of the War of 1812.
